Getting ready

Choosing a going out outfit is one of the best parts of getting ready. Put on some music, pour a drink, have your friends over. Before going out tonight I will not have enough time for the whole ritual. Still I didn't want to skip it, so had my pre-party fun this morning. I put on some Haim, poured some very strong tea, and started.

Of course for me, it comes down to the right dress. The leopard one is my all time favorite. I didn't choose it this time. The black one seemed more appropiate for New Years Eve. I do make resolutions, but more than that, the new year works as a clean slate for me. You start anew. So I went with the dress with ruffles by Iro, that I hadn't worn yet.

The dress is short and has a open back, so for dinner tonight I will pair it with a jacket. I had every intention of wearing my lace one, the blue cropped one didn't work. In the end I choose the white one, it is fresher and I don't want to wear much make-up. When you look a bit tired ( I do) always go for white.

If you believe the predictions, 2013 will be the year that you can stop wearing platforms and dance the night away in your party flats. I did consider wearing my ballerinas...

I like black and white outfits as simple as possible. Not too many accessories, just this velvet and slik floral scarf and maybe some earrings.

The nice thing about getting ready in the morning is that I still have many hours to change my mind! But if not, in the half hour that I have, I can do my hair and make-up without any stress.  What are you girls going to wear tonight?
Five minutes after making these last pictures I was in a striped shirt and boyfriends, ready to run earrands, already in a party mood.
