Fall Fashion: Seventies glam wardrobe on a budget

Lily Aldridge style 2015

In September you get pulled in every direction by the new fashion trends.  It's all new, shiny and seductive. You could go wild and and put every trendy thing you love to your shopping cart.  But it will make mornings and evenings very confusing. You will stand there, looking at all the stuff, tags still on, and try to solve that depressing puzzle. So many pretty things, but I have nothing to wear... I Minimalism it is not, but pinpoint one trend, just one. If you stick with one, you will update all your basics; a new shoe style, a cool bag will elevate anything, and will be able to mix and match your new items, as you please, having a whole new mini wardrobe on the side.
Find something, one image, a campaign, a vibe that inspires you and start from there. This closet started with an editorial that Lily Aldridge did with The Edit, from there coming together as a closet  full of glam, cool and affordable new buys.

BUILDING THE WARDROBE

For fall you only need one new pants/trouser style. There are lots of options, cropped, kick flare, culottes, flare, high waist. Buy a nice skirt. Find some cool and cosy tops, explore some new shades. Search for a cute dress that will go from day to night.
Your coat is important, buy the best you can afford. There are some wonderful options under 150 US like this suede like coat by Zara. Update your work pumps, find a cute pair of flats/sneakers. Boots/booties is the item you will probably spend the most on, it is a good idea to start from there. What are you going for, classic equestrian, rock black booties, boho brown booties, or a statement piece like the OTK suede boots shown here?
Add interest with your bags and don't forget to think about your whole look when buying them. Have fun with the process!

THE BREAKDOWN

Don't buy only work clothes, or the same shirt over and over. Think about the activities you will be doing and plan for them. Have a to-go weekend look, know what you would want to wear on a date, to work or having lunch with your friends.
When what you buy has the same sensibility the possibilities are endless, and it all looks great together.
