Life is always trying to trip you up. Just as I am tackling this paint job—turn a pink bedroom into a white oasis, I keep stumbling on pink rooms that push me to rethink my commitment to the transformation. Well, not really, this particular room I'm working on was metallic pink! So watching it go matte is hugely satisfying. But. But!  It all started with the Architectural Digest tour of Shay Mitchell's house and the nursery her friend and designer painted Sulking Pink by Farrow and Ball. Then other images kept popping up on my Instagram; it snowballed from there. How can you not fall in love with these perfect pink rooms...







My theory about pink: It's so calming, young, and uplifting. However, I always find it hard to live with. It's the red pushing trough, spending too much time in a pink room can put you on edge. That's why it is crucial to seek out the right shade. When pink has a muddy undertone, two or even more colors are counteracting the power of red. That's why I never liked millennial pink in a large space; its too bright, blunt, it only works as an accent color. But this unusual pink could win me over; it's poetic, sedate, a little French, definitely grownup. It's not perky, for pink, it's such an introverted and inscrutable, it is just so alluring. (Yeah, I know, I think about color a lot.)I still don't know if I would ever use it in my house. I do like it as an accent color though, like here in the Doen shop in Brentwood.


For now, I'll admire these rooms from a distance and continue to cover the hideous metallic in my room with Farrow and Ball's All White (pictures coming soon.)
